For the safety monitoring of at least one load, the monitoring unit (1) has bias resistors (17 to 19) on a ceramic circuit board (3), which are used simultaneously as control heater and are exposed to an air stream in a flow channel (10). Depending on the temperature of the circuit board (3) acting as a heat sensor (40), an interruptor (20) is held closed or is opened and is held in the opened state by means of a latch (41). The circuit board is arranged on a metallic carrier body (6) and is fastened via the latter or via conductive intermediate connections (32) to a connecting body (5) consisting of insulating material. By this means, the resistors (17 to 19) can be constructed as thick-layer resistors in the manner of an integrated circuit and the interruptor (20), with a protective element (29), can be fastened directly to the circuit board (3) and thus connected to the latter in a thermally conducting manner. <IMAGE>
