The invention is intended to make possible a rapid data transfer, high reliability being given under rough environmental conditions. The invention consists in the provision of a manually exchangeable static memory (5) having semiconductor elements (11) as recording substrate, and in that the control and regulation device (3) of the printing machine, which is connected to the memory (5) for writing in and reading out at least one digital information unit, has an arrangement for accepting and transmitting information units from the memory (5) and to the memory (5). A flash-memory card can be used as memory and is advantageously connected to the control or regulation unit (3) via a flexible printed circuit (10). The invention finds application in the control of printing machines. <IMAGE>
