A front clip for a safety binding with a housing base (3) securable to a ski and a housing top (2) which has at least one adjustable release spring (4) and two pivoting sole holders (14a, 14b) on which said release springs acts, in which, with the front clip in its operative position, the housing top (2) can pivot about a transverse axis (Q) secured by a pivot bearing and running substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal central axis (L) of the front clip and the pivot bearing has bearing sections (17a, 17b) fitted with bearing heads (18a, 18b) and projecting substantially vertically upwards formed in the housing base (3) and at least one engagement component (19), and bearing points (25a, 25b) fitted with bearing surfaces (26a, 26b) in the housing top (2) allocated to the bearing sections (17a, 17b) and at least one hook component (27) allocated to the engagement component (19), whereby, with the front slip in an opening position, the housing top (2) can be removed from the housing base (3) and, from this position, is pivoted about the transverse axis (Q) in the region of the bearing heads towards the position of use of the front clip.
