In order to simplify a highly effective safety device for a knife which does not really hinder cutting, a protective cap (6) which comprises a groove (10) for receiving the blade's part to be protected, a closed end portion (9) covering the tip (5) of the blade (1) and a dorsal portion (7) for covering at least a part of the back surface (4) of the blade opposite to its sharp edge (1a), and enclosing the tip portion and at least a part of a groove (3) in the blade. Inner parts (8a) of the cap (6) are reaching into said groove of the blade. It is preferred to use, for the cap (6), a material of a low coefficient of friction with regard to the material to be cut. |
