The invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling the injection of fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. Measuring of the combustion pressure of a cylinder is effected by using a piezoelectric washer (6), whereby an engine control unit (7) is capable of sensing the loading and combustion process in real time. The injection of fuel can be maintained under control with no delay.
