Furniture on which to sit or lie, which is adjustable by motor, in particular beds with frames, undergo a test after manufacture. In this test, all of the functions are invoked. The expenditure on personnel and time required for this is very high. The invention is intended to remedy this. According to the invention, provision is made to assign a special test program to a control unit arranged in the frame for controlling the motors. This test program runs automatically after manufacture. Without further intervention from outside, individual parts of the frame are moved into their end positions. During this process, measured values can be recorded and compared with desired values. <IMAGE>
