<p>PURPOSE:To operate a reducing furnace using a flash furnace as a reducing furnace without any danger of carbon monoxide explosion when the furnace is started or stopped. CONSTITUTION:The carbon monoxide concn. in the waste gas at the outlet of a condenser is controlled to a desired value between 0 and 13%, a raw material is charged into a reducing furnace in the amt. necessary to keep the heat balance of the furnace, and operation is started. The operation is shifted to the normal operation condition after the concn. in the waste gas at the condenser outlet is stabilized. When the operation is stopped, the carbon monoxide concn. in the waste gas at the condenser outlet is stabilized at a desired value between 0 and 13%, and the operation is stopped. Since the infiltration of the atmosphere into the system due to the fluctuation of the gas pressure in the system is prevented when the operation is started or stopped, the explosive combustion of carbon monoxide is surely prevented.</p> |
