PURPOSE:To perform printing on a selvage part by printing a printing content, inputted from an input means, on a selvage according to a detected signal when the selvage of a paper sheet is detected, in a digital duplicator having a guard sheet mode. CONSTITUTION:A printing content on the selvage part M of an index sheet I is previously inputted by an external input device. When a guard sheet mode is executed, an index sheet I is conveyed to a guard sheet insertion position and the index sheet I passes through a gap between light receiving and emitting elements 82 and 84. In this case, from a state to cut off a light passage between the light receiving and emitting elements 82 and 84, the size and the position of the selvage part M are detected. The detected results are fed to a control part and based on the data, the prestored printing content on the selvage part is printed on the selvage part M. Further, the light receiving and emitting elements 82 and 84 are arranged throughout a range exceeding the maximum width of a paper sheet. |
