The invention relates to a self-correcting turbine meter 110, and to a method for determining the amount of fluid 2 flowing through a conduit 1. The invention is based on the insight that the magnitude of the indication error is determined by the instantaneous change in the flow velocity, as a function of medium-specific parameters such as specific density, temperature and viscosity, and that it is possible to determine beforehand the relationship between indication error and change in flow velocity. According to the invention, the instantaneous change in the flow velocities is therefore measured and compared with said predetermined relationship, on the basis of which a correction for the measured flow rate is calculated. <IMAGE>
