<p>PURPOSE:To provide an antimicrobial ingredient produced from a plant, having an excellent antimicrobial potency, and reduced in the characteristic smell, taste and color of the plant. CONSTITUTION:The antimicrobial ingredient comprises the dry-distilled product of a plant excluding beefsteak plant, bamboo, SHOKYO, mugwort and garlic. The dry distilled product is obtained by, if necessary, grinding and drying the plant and subsequently dry-distilling the dried product at 120-250 deg.C, especially 140-210 deg.C, under a pressure of <=100mmHg, especially 10-50mmHg. Since the resultant antimicrobial ingredient contains a different active ingredient by the difference in the raw material plant, two or more kinds of plants are preferably simultaneously subjected to the dry distillation or kinds or more two of the dry distilled products are preferably mixed with each other in order to widen the antimicrobial spectrum of the antimicrobial ingredient.</p> |
