PURPOSE:To obtain a high-carbon iron powder suitable to the compacting iron powder. CONSTITUTION:This high-carbon iron powder is produced by water or gas atomization or crushing and contains 10. to 4.5wt.% C. The raw iron powder for the sintered metal consists of graphite and >=1 kind among ferrite, pearlite or spheroidal cementite. The powder or crushed powder is heated to >=850 deg.C, kept at that temp. for >=15min, then slowly cooled, rapidly cooled and spheroidized into cementite to produce the raw powder for sintered metal. |
