PURPOSE:To prevent a rupture from developing in a corrugated sheet on the outer periphery of a honeycomb body due to the thermal expansion/shrinkage of a metal carrier for a catalytic device. CONSTITUTION:The metal carrier for a catalytic device consists of a honeycomb body 1 of a plain sheet and a corrugated sheet stacked alternately in a roll, a sleeve 3 arranged on the outer periphery of the honeycomb body, an intermediate cylinder 2 junctioned to the outer periphery of the honeycomb body and inset in the sleeve and at least, one notched part 4 running toward the center shaft of the honeycomb body from the outer surface of the intermediate cylinder. The sleeve 3 and the intermediate cylinder 2 are junctioned only by one of the ends. The sleeve may be junctioned to the intermediate cylinder 2 at the notched part 7 provided on one of the ends. Consequently, no difference in the expansion/shrinkage volume generates between the outer periphery of the honeycomb body and the intermediate cylinder, so that it is possible to prevent a rupture from generating in the corrugated sheet on the outer periphery of the honeycomb body due to metal fatigue. |
