PYRIDOCINNOLINE COMPOUND OR ITS SALT AND ANTIBACTERIAL AGENT CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound useful as an antibacterial agent having excellent antibacterial activity and oral absorbability. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula I [R is H or carboxyl- protecting group; W is H or lower alkyl; X is H or halogen; Y is halogen, amino, protected amino, cyclo-lower alkylamino, mono or di-lower alkylamino or (substituted) cyclic amino; Z is H, halogen, NO2, (substituted) lower alkyl, (protected) OH, amino or protected amino; A and B are such that one of them is CH2, the other being CO; where, when Y is halogen and Z is H, A is CO and B is CH2) or a salt thereof, e.g. 5-fluoro-2,3-dihydro-1-methyl-2,7-dioxo-4-(1- piperazinyl)-1H,7H-pyrido[ 3,2,1-i,j]cinnoline-8-carboxylic acid. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by addition reaction of a compound of formula II (Y<1> is the same as Y excluding halogen and amino; E is eliminable group; R<1> is carboxyl-protecting group).
