PURPOSE: To provide a dye applicable to a dye donor element especially for thermal dye sublimation transfer printing by using the dye corresponding to the general formula, in the dye donor element having a dye layer containing the dye arranged on a support. CONSTITUTION: The dye donor element is used for thermal dye transfer and has a dye layer containing at least one kind of dye arranged on a support. In this case, at least the one kind of the dye corresponds to the described general formula. In this formula, however, Z is -CN, -COOR<1> or the like; R<1> is H, a (cyclo)alkyl group or the like; R<4> , R<5> are H, an aryl group, a heterocyclic ring, SO2 R<8> or the like; R<6> , R<7> are the (cyclo)alkyl group, alkenyl group or the like; R<8> , R<9> are the (cyclo)alkyl group, aryl group or the like; and X is a substituted nitrogen atom or a substituted carbon atom or the like. Thus the dye is obtained which is applicable to the dye donor element especially for thermal dye sublimation transfer printing. |
