THERMOACTINOMYCES SP UAT-8, PRODUCTION OF ALDOSE REDUCTASE INHIBITOR USING THE SAME, AND ALDOSE REDUCTASE INHIBITOR

PURPOSE:To provide Thermoactinomyces sp. Uat-8 producing a high active aldose reductase inhibitor which is capable of producing 2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid as an aldose reductase inhibitor and can be effectively used as a therapeutic agent for diabetic complication. CONSTITUTION:As a result of a wide range screening of microorganisms which produces an aldose reductase of high activity and low toxicity, Thermoactinomyces sp. Uat-8, has been found to be optimal and deposited as FERM-13372. The new strain is inoculated to the culture medium under aerobic agitation at 45 deg.C for about 97 hours, the culture mixsture is filtered, the filtrate is concentrated by passing it through a hydrophobic adsorbent column, extracted with ethyl acetate and the extract is purified to afford the objective aldose reductase inhibitor containing 2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid as an active ingredient.
