PREPARATION OF EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION CATALYST

PURPOSE:To obytain a catalyst with enhanced exhaust gas purification performance and improved heat resistance by increasing and making uniform the dispersedness of an active species carried by a metal-containing silicate as a bearing base material. CONSTITUTION:When allowing a precious metal active species containing Ir to be carried by a metal-containing silicate, an organic solvent having an approximate boiling point to that of water which is the solvent of salts of the precious metal other than Ir is used as a solvent for salts of Ir. Consequently, Ir and a precious metal other than Ir as active species are allowed to deposit on the metal-containing silicate almost simultaneously. Thus it is possible to obtain the uniform and dispersedness rich bearing state of the active species.
