PURPOSE:To prevent a time loss relating to copy productivity by providing a sheet retaining lever in the lower part upward of an elevator type discharge tray having a sweeper plate slidable at a right angle direction to a discharge direction. CONSTITUTION:A sweeper plate 13 is provided in a rearward side end part of an elevator type discharge tray 5 liftable by a lift unit. A sweeper plate 15 parallel to the sweeper plate 13 further slidable along a guide hole 14 is provided in a frontward side end part of the tray 5. A stapler 18 is provided above the rearward side end part of the discharge tray 5 in the vicinity of a sheet carry out port. A notch 27 of a stapler bottom plate 26 of this stapler 18 is provided. An L-shaped sheet retaining lever 28 is pivotally supported, so that its point end is inserted to the notch 27, by a supporting point shaft 29. This retaining lever 28 is connected to a retaining lever actuator solenoid through a coil spring 31 so as to retain a sheet.
