ORGANIC BINDER FOR FORMING CERAMIC, ITS PRODUCTION AND CERAMIC SUBSTRATE PRODUCED BY USING THE BINDER

PURPOSE:To obtain an organic binder for forming ceramic material, causing little environmental pollution and capable of forming a ceramic green sheet having excellent dispersibility of ceramic, surface smoothness, density and mechanical strength by compounding a polymer of a vinyl monomer with a water-soluble polymer and water or a mixture of water and a water-soluble organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:The organic binder for forming ceramic is composed of (A) 100 pts.wt. of a polymer of at least one kind of vinyl monomer, (B) 1-9.5 pts.wt. of a water-soluble polymer and (C) water or water and a water-soluble organic solvent. The binder can be produced by dissolving (A) 100 pts.wt. of a polymer of at least one kind of vinyl monomer and (B) 1-9.5 pts.wt. of a water-soluble polymer in (C) water or water and a water-soluble organic solvent and carrying out the suspension (co)polymerization of the component A in the presence of a polymerization initiator. The component A is preferably a polymer of a (meth) acrylic acid ester.
