PURPOSE:To obtain the subject sintered compact substantially excellent in corrosion resistance without carrying out heat treatment or surface coating by constituting the sintered compact so as to contain a small amount of rare earth elements and have a specific small amount of Al and Mg contained or mixed in the sintered compact and have specific large amount of relative density. CONSTITUTION:The silicon nitride-based sintered compact for acid resistant member contains a small amount of rare earth elements (preferably one or more elements selected from Y, Dy, Ho, Er and Yb) and contains Al and Mg contained in the sintered compact or inevitably mixed therein in an amount of <=0.05wt.%, respectively and has >=99% relative density. Thereby, silicon nitride-based sintered compact substantially excellent in corrosion resistance without carrying out heat resistance and surface coating and this sintered compact is preferably applied for bearing, sliding members, valves, piping components, etc., used in a nuclear power-related component of nuclear reactor- treating vessel, etc., and corrosive circumstance. |
