The invention concerns a process for the radial friction welding, preferably of reinforced pipes and end inserts made of thermoplastic material, in the production of pipelines for use under pressure in harsh environments. The aim of the invention is to ensure that the articles concerned have the necessary characteristics for the hostile conditions in which they are to be used. According to the invention, the components to be welded are joined tightly together along two fitting surfaces of different diameters and rotated relative to each other. The fitting surface with the smaller diameter (equal to the inner diameter of the reinforcing cladding of the pipe) and shorter length commensurate with the thickness of the pipe wall serves to seal the cladding against the outer environment. The other fitting surface absorbs the fundamental mechanical stresses and transmits them to the reinforcing cladding of the pipe. |
