PURPOSE:To improve the rigidity of a chassis and simultaneously to simplify electrical wiring. CONSTITUTION:The chassis of a mechanism deck in a VTR is composed of a fixed chassis 10 and a movable chassis 20 moving back and forth to the fixed chassis 10. A rotary head drum 11 is freely rotatably fitted on the fixed chassis 10. A protector member 30 made of resin is fixed on both sides of the recessed part 20a of the movable chassis 20 so as to stride over the rotary head drum 11, tape guidings 12-17 and a pinch roller 18. Respective optical sensors 36 and 37 detecting the presence of a tape are fitted on both sides of the protector member 30. Respective optical sensors 36 and 37 are connected by sticking a flexible board 38 on a protector member 36. Consequently, the rigidity of the movable chassis 20 is improved and the wiring area of the flexible board 38 to a movable chassis 20 side is reduced and integrated.
