<p>PURPOSE:To provide an optical integrated circuit consisting of a laser diode, which does not require the formation of the end face by etching, and a photodiode. CONSTITUTION:A photodiode 6 and a laser diode 5 made in the same process have parallel optical axes, and they are optically coupled through an external reflector 8. The formation of the end face of the laser diode by cleavage becomes possible, and an optical integrated circuit consisting of a high- performance and highly reliable laser diode and a similar photodiode can be manufactured.</p> |
