PURPOSE: To obtain a roller which obviates the leaching of a charge control agent and has a long service life by having this this roller consist of a core and a polyurethane outside layer, formed to coat its surface and copolymerizing the polyurethane with the specific non-leachable charge control agent. CONSTITUTION: The polyurethane of the particle transfer roller, consisting of the core and the polyurethane outside layer on the core, is copolymerized with the charge control agent expressed by formula I. In the formula I, R<1> denotes formula II; R<2> denotes sulfonate, oxyphenylene sulfonate, etc.; M denotes hydrogen, alkaline metal, ammonium or P<+> (C6 H5 )3 eH<3> . In the formula II, x, y are integers sufficient for regulating the mol.wt. of R<1> to 300 to 30,000 in total amt. This charge control agent does not leach from the polyurethane and exists therein in the amt. sufficient for imparting a selected quantity of charge resistivity to the polyurethane. The Shore A hardness of the particle transfer roller is specified to about 15 to 40. As a result, the particle transfer roller efficiently holds the charge control agent and prolongs its service life. |
