PURPOSE:To make a storage capacity larger than at the time of using a magnetic material and to obviate the use of special refrigerant and cooler so as to obtain the excellent storage medium free from a change with lapse of time by controlling the quantity of the oxygen included in a metal oxide exhibiting a superconducting characteristic and storing information by utilizing the state of the large or small oxygen quantity in this metal oxide. CONSTITUTION:This storage medium has a substrate 1, an electrode 2, a needle electrode 4 and power source terminals 5 and 6 for applying a voltage to the storage medium 3. The voltage is applied to the storage medium by using the electrodes 2 and 4 of such constitution and the voltage-current characteristic between the terminal 5 and 6 is measured at the this time. Consequently, the storage medium is in the state of high resistance, i.e., in the high-resistant state up to certain voltage V1 but turns to the low-resistance state when the voltage larger than V1 is applied to the medium. As a result, the binary states of the high-resistance state and the low-resistance state are recorded on the storage medium according to whether the voltage exceeding V1 is applied or not at the time of recording. |
