PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal dye-bleaching structure having safe and excellent bleaching characteristics by combining polymethine dyes having a specific nucleus and a specific thermal dye generating agent. CONSTITUTION: This thermal dye-bleaching structure is prepd. by combining the polymethine dyes having the nucleus, expressed by formula I and the thermal dye generating agent, expressed by formula II. In the formula I, n denotes an integer from 0 to 3; W denotes hydrogen, <=10C alkyl group, etc.; R<1> , R<2> respectively denote <=20C alkyl groups, etc.; R<5> , R<6> respectively denote hydrogen atoms, <=20C alkyl groups, etc., X<-> denotes anion. In the formula II, R<9> , R<10> respectively denotes hydrogen, alkyl group, etc., p is 1 or 2; Z denotes a univalent group selected from an alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, etc., when p is 1; Z denotes a bivalent group selected from an alkylene group, cycloalkene group, etc., when p is 2. M<+> is the cation which does not make carboanion ineffectual as the bleaching agent for the polymethine dyes, by reacting with the carboanion generated from the thermal carboanion generating agent.
