DEVICE AND METHOD FOR IMAGE PREPARATION BY LIGHT BEAM TRACKING

PURPOSE:To perform intersection calculation processing at a high speed by the image preparing device which uses a light beam tracking method by providing an optimum dividing method for boxel division. CONSTITUTION:A three-dimensional scene input device 21 reads shape data on a subject and optical attribute data out of a three-dimensional space data base 1. A division number determining device 22 determines the number of divisions of a boxel from the shape data on the subject stored in a subject memory 27. A voxel registration device 23 divides a space on the basis of the number of divisions determined by the division number determination processing 22 to generate a boxel table 28. A light beam tracking image generating device 24 calculates a color of each pixel on a screen by the light beam tracking method by using the generated boxel table 28 and writes it in a frame buffer 29. Consequently, the number of subjects registered in the boxel becomes constant and the light beam tracking processor 24 performs image preparation fast.
