A device for recording and replaying video signal recordings from an effective line information which is required for transmitting respective frames, and voice information together with identification information in mutually similar track patterns is disclosed, the number of scanned pixels per line (or block) and the number of lines (or the number of blocks) which are to be recorded on each track being set in accordance with a frequency band ratio of a first recording video signal with respect to a second recording video signal. This makes it possible to record and replay several types of video signals with mutually different bands and similarly different numbers of effective scanning lines and signal formats, and with almost uniform picture quality performance in accordance with the difference of the frequency bands by means of a device in which the circuit dimensions are not increased.
