Protecting cars against theft by separating off the reverse gear lock

Protecting motor vehicles against theft by means of a reverse gear engagement lock which acts on the gear lever and can be raised against the latter, the said lock being made nonremovable during parking of the vehicle by the invention, as in many cases the reverse gear is necessary for the vehicle to be driven away. This is achieved by covering the gear lever with a casing and by securing the position of the latter in an exclusive manner by use of a locking bolt in the casing, which bolt is part of a cylinder lock and engages behind the gear changing knob.
