In the case of a drive device for an electrical power switch, a force store (14) is provided in order to drive a contact piece of an interrupter unit (12). The force store is articulated on a switching rod (13), via a rotating crank (11). The crank (11) can be coupled to a cocking motor via a shaft (1) which is connected firmly to it, a cocking drive (22), and a freewheel mechanism (21), it being possible to load the force store (14) via said cocking motor. A non-return mechanism (15) is connected to the shaft (1) and brakes the shaft (1), after executing a switching movement, when the crank (11) swings back and the shaft (1), which is connected to it, rotates backwards. At the same time, the freewheel coupling (21) is operated via a brake (16), and the cocking motor is coupled to the shaft (1). This prevents the crank (11) swinging back after the switching movement, so that the dynamic energy of the crank (11) is stored for the next switching process, and the next cocking process is automatically initiated during this process. <IMAGE>
