Previously known digital comparators of this type require a relatively large number of transistors for implementing them as a circuit. The new digital comparator contains a complement circuit (301) for generating the complement of the second numerical value, a first logic carrier circuit (302) for generating a carrier signal from the least significant bit position and for the second least significant to most significant bit position in each case a second logic carrier circuit (303 to 305), which are connected in series and generate a carrier signal for the respective bit position, the carrier signal belonging to the most significant bit position forming the comparator output signal (Cout) representative of the case A > B. This comparator structure can be implemented with comparatively few transistors which keeps the required chip surface small in the case of an integrated circuit construction and increases productivity. Use as comparator element in digital circuit technology. <IMAGE>
