In a method for the production of a refill, comprising the casting of the refill into a vertically arranged sleeve, the refill composition being liquidified by heating before casting, in order to avoid problems with air inclusions and to achieve a uniform structure of the finished refill, provision is made for a closure part to be arranged in the sleeve, this part being located in the region of the upper end of the sleeve at the start of the casting operation and being moved downwards as the casting operation progresses, in accordance with the quantity of supplied liquid refill composition in the sleeve, as far as the region of the lower end of the sleeve.
