A process for manufacturing aluminium alloy sheet

The present invention proposes a process for improving the properties of an aluminium alloy sheet product by delaying the final drawing of the sheet product. During the treatment of the product, a time interval or a deliberate delay between the final cold-rolling step and the final drawing step is provided. Owing to the delay of the final drawing procedure, an aluminium alloy sheet product having an improved fracture toughness is provided, without a significant reduction in the strength values. The process of a deliberate delay of the final drawing is particularly suitable for aluminium alloys of the 2000 series.
