The colemanite is manufactured by (a) mixing 50-90 wt.% natural colemanite or calcium borate, 10-50 wt.% one of calcium oxide-silica based natural wollastonite, blast furnace slag or phosphorus slag, (b) putting this mixture into the square stainless steel vessel coated with the mixed liquid of graphite powder, bentonite and water on the inside of the vessel, (c) firing at 800-1,100 deg.C for 30-90 min. in the furnace. The synthetic colemanite is composed of 30-50 wt.% calcium oxide, 8-35 wt.% silica, 20-50 wt.% boron oxide, 0.01-8 wt.% alumina, 0.01-5 wt.% magnesia and 0.01-2 wt.% of the total water content.
