A photographic material is disclosed comprising a support and at least one emulsion layer containing a silver halide emulsion, an infra-red sensitizer and a stilbene compound corresponding to general formula (SS-Ia) : <CHEM> wherein M represents a hydrogen ion or a monovalent cation, R<1> and R<2> each independently represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, NR<3>R<4>, SO2R<3>, COOR<3>, CONR<3>R<4>, NR<3>COR<4>, or SO3M, and Z<1> and Z<2> each independently represent Cl, OH, NR<3>R<4>, OR<5> or SR<5>, and, R<3>, R<4> and R<5> each independently represent alkyl, aryl or hydrogen. The most effective compounds bear in total four naphthoxy substituents on the triazine nuclei.
