There is disclosed an indexable cutting insert (11) including at least one cutting surface (13), at least one flank (14) intersecting with the cutting surface (13), a cutting blade (12) defined along the cross line between the cutting surface (13) and the flank (14), at least one primary nick (15) formed on the flank (14) so as to extend in a direction perpendicular to the cutting blade (12), and at least one secondary nick (18) formed on the cutting surface (13) in succession to the primary nick (15) so as to extend in a direction perpendicular to the cutting blade (12).
