Fault-tolerant adaptive communication switching method.

A method is described for local adaptive routing which is fault-tolerant with regard to network connection failure. In this method, only outputs with intact connections are permissible for adaptive routing. The failure of a connection is indicated by special signals (fault flags). To detect failed connections, tokens are transmitted via all connections, their absence indicating the failure of a connection.
