EPIPOLYTHIODIOXOPIPERAZINE DERIVATIVE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful as a cell growth inhibitor. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I {R1 and R2 are (OH-substituted) lower alkyl; R3 is group of group II or formula III [R4 and R5 are (OH- substituted) lower alkyl; m is 2-4]; n is 2-4; a compound wherein m=n=2 is excluded when R3 is group of formula II and R1=R2=R4=R5=CH3; a compound wherein m=n=2 is excluded when R3 is group of formula II, R1 is CH2OH and R2=R4=R5=CH3; a compound wherein m=2 and n=3 are excluded when R3 is group of formula II, R1 is CH2OH and R2=R4=R5=CH3, etc.}. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting a fungus (preferably Leptosphaeria sp. or Sesquicillium candelabrum) belonging to the genus Leptosphaeria or Sesquicillium, capable of producing epipolythiodioxopiperazine derivative to stationary culture for 3-4 weeks.
