PURPOSE:To obtain a excellent carbon-containing refractory capable of effectively improving corrosion resistance without deteriorating thermal impact resistance by combining an Al2O3-ZrO2-MgO based spinel clinker containing ZrO2, a carbon raw material and a refractory raw material. CONSTITUTION:The carbon-containing refractory is composed of 4-90wt.% Al2O3-ZrO2-MgO based spinel clinker containing 10-60wt.% ZrO2, 2-40wt.% carbon raw material and balance the refractory raw material. The carbon- containing refractory is obtained by adding 2-20wt.% binder such as phenolic resin into the combined material having the composition in external multiplication, mixing and kneading. Then, the kneaded material is compacted into a prescribed shape, is dried to make a non-fired product or is made a fired product by firing in a nonoxidizing atmosphere such as in a cokes breeze at 800-1500 deg.C. |
