PURPOSE:To obtain an image of high quality on a recording medium by low trasfer pressure, in a transfer type ink jet printer, by enhancing the releasability of the recording medium from a transfer medium. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet recording method, ink droplets in a low viscosity state are emitted from a recording head to form an ink image on a transfer medium 1. Water is evaporated and removed from the ink image 5 on the transfer medium 1 by a heating means 7 and the ink image is brought to floc of a color component and, at the same time, a release layer due to the oil component of an oil in water type emulsion contained in ink is formed between the transfer medium 1 and the ink image 5. A recording medium 6 is brought into contact with the transfer medium 1 having the ink image to transfer the ink image to the recording medium 6 under pressure from the release layer by a pressure roller 3. |
