PURPOSE:To obtain a tool for firing excellent in thermal shock resistance and free from the reaction with a material to be fired by constituting a base body with aluminum titanate based ceramic body and coating a surface in contact with a material to be fired with a noble metal. CONSTITUTION:The aluminum titanate-based ceramic base material excellent in thermal shock resistance is prepared. Next, the noble metal (e.g. platinum) is applied on at least the surface of the aluminum titanate-based ceramic base material in contact with the material to be fired by sputtering method, electroless plating method or the like. The tool for firing is produced by heat- treating the coated base material at a temp. above the firing temp. of the material to be fired. The obtained tool for firing is not damaged by a thermal shock even if using in severe temp. schedule because of using the aluminum titanate- based ceramic as the base material and prevents the reaction with the material to be fired because of applying a noble metal and is excellently fired. |
