PURPOSE:To provide the eyeglass type stereoscopic video display system without flicker with comparatively simple configuration and excellent in compatibility with an existing 2D television system. CONSTITUTION:The system is provided with a flat panel display device 67 in which picture elements are arranged as a matrix to synthesize and display two systems of input picture signals having parallax information corresponding to left and right eyes of a watcher respectively, a polarizing plate 68 arranged to the front face, and TN liquid crystal panels 70 arranged corresponding to picture elements of the flat panel display device 67. Then the light passing through the polarizing plate 68 is emitted from the TN liquid crystal panel 70 while the polarizing angle of the light passing through the polarizing plate 68 is made different by 90 deg. for each picture element of the flat panel display device 67 corresponding to the video image of left and right eyes and the watcher wears a polarizing eyeglass 15 whose left and right polarizing angles differ by 90 deg. to watch a stereoscopic video image. |
