The invention relates to a reflecting plate and its method of manufacture. It relates to the fabrication of reflecting plates, by bonding of a reflecting film (2) onto a support sheet (1) of the plate, by forming an imprint in the plate for forming characters (3) which are in relief, by painting of the characters with a substance (4) which does not permanently adhere to the characters, by painting the whole of the plate, then by separating the paint from the characters, so that the characters (3) retain the characteristics of the reflecting film (2), give a contrast which increases the legibility of the identification characters formed on the plate.
