PURPOSE: To improve the yield of a matrix display device provided with an address circuit addressing the picture elements of matrix arrangement by means of row and column address conductors. CONSTITUTION: The address circuit is provided with a shift register having sequential stages S1 -SM connected to sequential row address conductors LR1 -LRM through individual buffer devices B1 -BM. For restoring a defect for inhibiting the transmission of a timing pulse in the shift register, plural spare shift register stages Sx are distributed along the length of the shift register. The spare shift register stages are connected instead of the defective shift register stages through a pair of restoration conductors X1 and X2 which are insulated from the row address conductors and cross the conductors. A spare buffer device is similarly provided. |
