PURPOSE:To improve the contrast of an inputted picture by operating the data conversion processing of the luminance data of the inputted picture based on the primary object area of the inputted picture and the positional variation. CONSTITUTION:A primary object area detecting circuit 10 which detects a unit area constituting the primary object area of the inputted picture based on data from a screen division evaluation calculating circuit 9, and a lightness calculating circuit 12 which calculates lightness data indicating the lightness of the inputted picture based on the positional variation of the detected unit area and the luminance data are connected with a main control part 6. Then, the calculated lightness data are supplied from the main control part 6 to a conversion data calculating circuit 7. Then, the main control part 6 supplies print data based on an input from an RGB conversion circuit 5 to a printing control circuit 13, and the driving of a video printer is controlled so that a picture can be printed on recording paper by the printing control circuit 13. Then, the main control part 6 supplies the lightness data to the conversion data calculating circuit 7 based on prescribed data. |
