PURPOSE:To diversify the use form of a handwriting input device and to increase the portability of personal information. CONSTITUTION:When an electronic pen 101 becomes a pen-down-state, a pen identifier 116 is outputted to a main body 102. The pen identifier 102 obtains individual information corresponding to the pen identifier 116 outputted from the electronic pen 101 from a pen identifier/individual information table 119 and a processing is executed by using obtained individual information. When corresponding personal information does not exist, personal information 118 of the electronic pen 101 is copied on the pen idientifier/individual information table 119. Personal information of the pen identifier/ information table 119 can be preserved in RAM 108 of the electronic pen 101.
