PURPOSE:To shorten the temperature up time of a shift converter and the time to the heat up completion of the whole system. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel cell generating system provided with a reformer 1a for reforming a fuel gas into a gas containing much hydrogen; a shift converter 6 for converting carbon monoxide in the reformed gas obtained from the reformer 1a into hydrogen and carbon dioxide ; a heat exchanger 7 for raising or lowering the inlet temperature of the shift converter 6; and a fuel cell for conducting electric generation by use of the hydrogen generated by the shift converter 6 and air, this system is provided with a shift converter air line 15 for introducing an air for oxidizing the catalyst of the reformer 1a to the shift converter 6 through an air flow rate regulating valve at the time of starting the operation for raising the temperature of the catalyst and the shift converter 6 by utilizing a nitrogen recycle line 13 for circulating a recycled nitrogen through the reformer 1a, a shift converter inlet heat exchanger 7 and the shift converter 6. |
