<p>PURPOSE:To damp a grand piano sound by a mechanism similar to that of an upright piano, to guarantee a decrease in load placed on a key by damping, and to eliminate difficulties at the time of disassembling, assembling, and adjustments of an action mechanism. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a damping means 20 which damps the sound by shortening a stroke by supporting a hammer shank a specific distance above its normal position toward strings 3, and a load placing means 30 which prevents the key 5 from being lowered by supporting the key 5 from below in front of a balance pin 7 when the damping means 20 is in operation. The damping means 20 is a mechanism similar to that of the upright piano, so the sound can securely be damped; and the load placing means 30 is below the key 5, so it never hamper disassembling and assembling of the action mechanism, and various adjustments.</p> |
