<p>A dough-processing system (10) for dividing a dough sheet (18) into separate portions (30, 32, 34) and transporting each portion in a predetermined direction. A rotary cutter (28), having a cylindrical mandril (52) and a multiplicity of cutting dies (58) affixed on its external surface, divides the dough sheet (18). The cutting dies (58) have an exterior peripheral cutting edge (62) for cutting the linear dough sheet (18) into two or more linear portions (30, 34) for further processing on standard conveyor systems (22) and an interior peripheral cutting edge (64) for cutting the interior portion (32) from the snack-piece dough. The rotary cutter includes an internal helical auger (92) rigidly affixed to an internal surface of the cylindrical mandril and means (72) for transporting the interior cut portion (32) into the interior of the rotary cutter (28) and thereupon the helical auger (92) transports it out of the rotary cutter.</p> |
