Diacyl peroxide vinyl esters of the general formula (I), in which R can be straight-chain, branched-chain or cyclic alkylene residue with 2 to 10 C atoms or an aryl residue. These compounds are new and suitable for copolymerization with olefinically unsaturated momomers in conditions in which they do not yet undergo radical decomposition.
