A thermostat (10) having a cup (12) for housing a bimetal blade (18). A flange (14) extends from the top edge of the cup (12) which receives an insulating layer (24) and cover material (26) on its top surface. The cover (26) is then folded around and under the flange (14), simultaneously folding the insulating layer (24), and then crimped. The added layers of material (26), which previously extended beyond the depth of the cup (12) can now be essentially equal to the extent of the cup's (12) depth, providing substantially no additional thickness to the overall thermostat (10). |
